a poorly timed bout of chicken pox stopped me finishing my cult in time for the competition, (not that I mind after seeing the quality of the entries!) and my inability to take photo's this morning (or ever) means most of them are useless, however, here are a few group shots of my cult, with the sparse photo's that did work... sort of.... though they are better painted than they look! honest:)
will get some good individual pics up probably friday,
Mick

They look really nice bud, My pics never come out well either lol. Only thing about new painted figs is that they seem to die easier

What strikes me is that people are often really good painters (like greeny here) but there seems to be less experience at the simple tricks of taking photos of there miniatures? Would people be interested in hearing about how the Studio painters take their photos and the settings etc?

Absolutely especially if its stuff we can mimic at home

Definitely, It's annoying to paint little details then photograph them and see great brown blurs... I'm hoping rudders can give me a hand with some on friday as his pictures seem to come out ok:)

Ikiryo looks amazing - her face especially and the source lighting on Gok is very effective! Looking forward to seeing these guys tomorrow.
All my pictures come from my iPhone so we can give it a go! I would be very up for hearing how the studio painters do it.

I practiced Gok's light sourcing on Gengo, and just noticed a few things to touch up posting these, always handy:)

That’s much better. Love the snow covered bases. Gengo is hilarious. How did you do the chicken, press mould?
Love the look and feel you have created.
What did you use for the snow ? Tried a few times before but it never really look right.
Any chance you taking these to Salute would love to see them in the metal.
Your freehand is excellent. Will you be bringing them to Firestorm any time soon?

thanks:)
Duck- I'd love to say I did something clever with the chicken, but it was in my bits box, lord knows what it came from:),
Gordon- My wife makes cakes in her spare time and she made a christmas cake covered in snow using royal icing, and I thought that it looked great, this is the first time I've used it so I'm still unsure of it's durability:) I am taking them with me saturday so I guess I'll see!
Orochi- probably next week or week after:)

Nice! It in a gross disgusting way. It'll be sad to see Hotaru roast them in the near future!
http://rudders-modellife.blogspot.com
Great job!
How do you do your snow basing? I've had mixed success with baking powder/PVA/varnish combo's in the past.
If Hotaru will be roasting them then I suppose Tenshi will have to... well... not run away from them thats for sure! :)

Woo, been so long since I've updated this post I couldnt even find it! assuming since I've met Orochi numerous times in the last five months I've answered his question (Royal Icing) here is my Shichiro together with my second large rat swarm (not significantly different from my first so only one photo)- the weather has not aided my photography-
