I would like the peasents in some way to inspire the monks a little - protecting them and admiring their bravery for standing up against whatever they are facing even through their calling in life is growing rice! I would want them to be quite fast so as capable of getting away from trouble. It would be useful for them to carry something with them that would be useful in battle - spare weapons etc. If they are struck down in battle near another monk that monk should in some way want retribution and maybe got a bonus CP dice in their next roung of attack or something like that.
Mistaken: Once a game, replace this model with a model with the monk characteristic
Lure away: Enemy models in x (KI) have to make an opposed KI-Test or move their speed towards this model
Believer: Remove this model from play. A model with the monk characteristic within X gains another activation / or all models with the monk characteristic within X may move X" (or something like this)..
Ignite: (ki)(ki)(ki) simple, active- Remove all flame counters and poison tokens on all models within 3" of this model, these models take 1 wound for each counter removed from their card.
Bumbling oaf. One Ki to get Defence trigger 0; The peasant and his attacker both fall prone, neither takes any damage.
Noble Truth of Suffering. One Ki, Free. For each wound this peasant suffers in the next combat give as many Ki to a Monk within 8''.
Conquer by Kindness. Free. For each two Ki one dice is removed from the attack pool of an enemy in BtB.
Dreams of a Butterfly. Three Ki, Free. When hit by an attack this model is removed from the table instead of suffering the effects. As it's next activation it may be placed anywhere on the table more than 8'' away from all enemies.
Like the bumbling oaf one.. that could have a really characterful model to go with it, the sterotyped dim farmer who always seems to show up in samurai films.
Yeah they were also the basis for R2D2 and C3PO :) .
I was thinking some sort of merchant character could be cool. In Japanese society peasants were something of a middle class being considered above merchants in the heirarchy.
Merchant: When included in the force you have the option of increasing the purchase cost of all other members by 2 rice. If you decide to do so all other members get either +1 to their damage rolls or take 1 less damage from attacks.
Not smelly? or worse (pun), not smelly feat
Heroic: Gains Last Stand
Look over there!: Gains Automatic Disengage
Gains Counter Attack: I'm thinking some peasent armed with a rice thresher or a 3 piece staff, etc.
Cheers

Friend (X/Y): This model grants Bodyguard to all tipe X models within Y.
So we can bodyguard a Yumi's friend from ranged attack and then use her feat... :P
Sorry my poor english >_< Bushido FTW !!

Ok, lots of games later, I would really like to see a new Master Monk for my Crew.
I'd like to have another 12-15 Rice Monk who could give Master Ekusa the pause he deserves after leeching and channeling so much Ki around :)
It would be really great to get a new Master Monk though.
Interesting :)

Just some rough ideas:

I follow the rules of bushido. I am a bushi.

I saw 'The Hidden Fortress' by Kurosawaagain last week, and the main protagonists are two wonderfully bumbling oafs with a penchant for survival.
They'd make really fun, ugly, figures..
