Temple vs Savage Wave - Idols 35 rice

Played last night at my local club against a new player Ben. He had his brand new Temple starter and I took the Savage Wave

Scenario- Idols, 35 Rice

Temple of Ro-Kan

Master Ekusa 12
Kenko 9
Yumi 8
Itchiro 3
Atsuko 3

Savage Wave

Zuba 13
Bo 4
Li 4
Ju 3.5
Fe 3.5
Ka 3.5
Jic 3.5
Po Summoned
Wu Summoned

Turn 1 - VP- 0/0

Zuba gained Future Sight and the Wave won the tactical roll. The Bakemonos grouped into two hordes, one on each flank. Summoned an extra Bakemono from the shadows and all the Wave models moved towards the 3 idols. The Monks shifted a few Ki about and advanced through the middle with Atsuko convinced he could act as a speed hump against Zuba.

Turn 2 - VP- 0/1

Zuba managed to stave of being Beserk and again won the tactical roll with Future Sight. The right hand side Bakemono horde ran towards the idol and Li unleased a shot at Itchiro which managed to inflict 1 wound at maximum range, whilst Ju managed to turn the idol. Kenko using Fists of Iron, put the smack onto Bo taking him down to 1 wound. Yumi and Itchiro moved towards the centre idol and Ekusa moved up and put the Healing Touch on Itchiro. The Bakemonos on the left moved up to the centre idol, summoned another from the Shadows (Po) and got ready to take on the Monks. Zuba was charged by Atsuko and the resulting combat saw Zuba trip his trigger and slam Atsuko 6" backwards, putting him prone and piled on 3 wounds.

Turn 3 - VP - 0/2

Yumi and Itchiro moved to combat the bakemono around the centre idol and a fair ammount of damage was caused by both sides with Yumi taking out Fe, but the Wave managing to turn that idol as well. Ekusa tried to contemplate Zuba but the winds of serenity had obviously not washed over him again this turn. Zuba devastatingly charged Atsuko and in a major case of overkill, took him out.

Turn 4 - VP- 0/1

Zuba after his completed mushing of Atsuko goes Beserk and moves round the woods towards the rear of the Temple forces grouped around the centre idol. Li used From the Darkness again and popped up by the woods on the right, just to the rear of Ekusa and out of LOS. A short range shot with his bow, even with reduced stregth saw a couple of wounds being placed on the Temples master. Ekusa turned the central idol neutral whilst Ka and Po and Wu all attempted to attack Kenko and Yumi. The resulting melee ended with Kenko and Yumi left on most of their wounds and all the Bakemono had been despatched!

Turn 5 - VP - 1/1

With Zuba still Beserk, he charges into the rear of Ekusa, surprising the old man and not only crushing the meditating Monk but smashing the Tortoise as well. Li runs to the idol on the right and turns it for the Wave and Yumi does the same on the left for the Temple. Kenko and Jic by some twist of fate fight to a stalemate in the centre leaving the idol neutral.

Turn 6 -VP - 1/2

Zuba shakes of his Beserk, The Temple win the tactical roll even with Zuba using Future sight. Kenko manages to take out Jic and is then engaged by Zuba, fortunately his strength seems to have left him after losing Beserk and Kenko is still standing. Yumi charges into Zuba but can do little damage. Li the pops up from the darkness and manages to turn the centre idol giving the Wave a 2-1 win.

Aftermath

As this was Ben's first game of Bushido and my experience with the Temple is lacking, the managing of Ki and using of feats by them was a bit lack luster. Mainly Kenko used his Fists of Iron and Ekusa tried Contemplating Zuba. The Peasants didnt really do much either and we both forgot bodyguard.

For the Wave, Zuba mainly used his future sight and he went and stayed Beserk alot as I forgot to remove Ki during the end phase *doh* not that it really mattered as I wanted to charge into the rear of Ekusa!

The Bakemonos started off really well, hording themselves and summoning up more. although after losing a few, with the Ki diminishing I was then really banking on them to hold up in combat. Yeh right 1 die CP with 1 die for small!!

Overall a really close game and even though time was taken looking up and clarifying feats and rules for Ben, it flowed quite quickly.

nice report with some great photos. hope he enjoyed his first game:) -one query, when you say Zuba surprised master Ekusa, I'm assuming you just meant that in a descriptive way? (Ekusa's sixth sense and all that)

Never tell me the odds: Han Solo;)

Yes meant in the descriptive sense. Poor old Ekusa never stood a chance regardless. He is taking Wave next game and I'm going to try the Cult.

I was fantastic! And it was a bloody good laugh!

That sounds a lot like whenever I play Templet against Wave! Although there are normally more Bakemono left too.

Nice report
