I'm a bit confused over the Unique effect wording on the Small Rat Swarm card, especially the first portion:
"A player cannot nominate Small Rat Swarms to activate When Nezumi activates all Small Rat Swarms under the players control must perform the same action."
Firstly, I assume there should be a full stop after the first "activate" as "When" starts with a capital letter? The way I read the card is that the Swarms must activate at the same time as Nezumi- to all intents and purposes they are effectively one model spilt over 2-4 bases.
Secondly what if the Swarm can't perform the action? Such as a charge or interacting with an objective such as the idols?

Corspesmith, yes there should be a fulllstop.
The wording means that you never use the Swarm to activate you always activate off the Nezumi card even if he's in his rat form.
The second question, they dont do anything if they cant perform the action.
"To a real warrior, power perceived may be power achieved."
Rat swarms dont generate Ki. When he transforms into a swarm with no KI left Nezumi can never transform back right?
I think it's meant to be played much like the bakemono horde card. As in the Ki goes on the rat swarm card, not individual swarms, and any swarm can use it..

They still don't generate Ki though, so if he has none and can't generate then he can't turn back. Unless the faction has a character that can move Ki around the models.

Ah sorry, my mistake. I was very tired last night.
I guess we'll just have to be extra careful with Ki management with Nezumi. (although Cult are all about careful Ki management anyway!)

Actual there are 2 problems you may face even if you are careful i think. Both in mirror matches actually.
KI stealing skills (Ikiryo) and control spells. Simon says spend your KI and transform!
Yes Ikiryo's Unique Effect would work to remove Ki preventing a change back. The marionette would not as not cant use Ki Feat's or spend Ki of the "Controlled" model
"To a real warrior, power perceived may be power achieved."
I'll use my dreadful powers and make this thread Rise Again instead of summoning another, to make it easier to find stuff later when I've forgotten everything!
What is meant by cannot perform the action? Is that just for stuff like placing offerings at altars?
What happens if Nezumi has a swarm a bit away and he attacks or charges a figure the swarm cannot reach? Does the swarm do nothing? Charge/move towards the same enemy? Or can it attack another enemy in reach?
I follow the rules of bushido. I am a bushi.
When you do a Charge or Melee skill with Nezumi, you must declare all his and each of the Small Rat Swarm's actions. Then, you move all of them and afterwards all combats are resolved.
Therefore, if a Small rat Swarm intends to move btb or charge an enemy, but the movement isn't enough, as the rules state, it moves up to its full movement distance and stay there.
Of course, if you see the Small Swarm won't get it to the desired enemy, you can move it somewhere else. But you must always declare it before moving Nezumi or any other rat Swarm.
I hope I got it right.
Can I add a question to the mix while we're here (go easy I'm a noob).
Does the wording mean all the Small Rat Swarms have to perform the same action, and Nezumi can perform a different action,
OR
Does Nezumi have to take the same action as the rats?
Thanks in advance!

Hey-
Nezumi and the rats have to perform the same action if they can, otherwise they just do rat things, like chewing each other ears, or looking for worms:)

Thanks Greeny!
One more question. Like a tool I threw all the bases from my Nezumi in my big box of plastic bases when I got them out of the packet. Now I can remember what size base Nezumi's meant to be on.
Little help please?
Thanks again

He's on a standard 30mm base, except when down on all fours looking for worms.

What happens to the individual rat swarms if Nezumi is killed?
They activate when Nezumi does, so without him, they sit around and make noise.
because it says on nezumi's card that his card is used to activate the rats, even when he isnt on the table we've always played that they activate as normal, they all have to do the same action and you 'tire' the nezumi card to show the group activation, maybe we interpreted it wrong but when I did it against one of the studio in Jwardiff he didn't correct me (too busy stomping Araka I think)

Cool, that's the way we played it :)
Basically they sat there and blocked charge lanes... I mean... chewed each others ears.
Cheers

If a model attacks a rat swarm but doesn't kill it, is the rat swarm tired? Furthermore is nezumi also tired since they all activate together?
