Wave 7 The models commence

Awesome job on Shichiro, this is what I was talking about in my other Wave 7 thread about the artwork.

Not a real action pose but very characterful. You can see him making some shady deals.

The mini is not bad but unfortunately he looks totally different compared to the artwork. His pose is not so relaxed and arrogant and he is much more musculous. What does he hold in his hand? And where are the rats? The pipe looks a little weird, too.

I wonder how Master Po will turn out. The Beast will look great, one-eyed mawbeasts for the win!

I'm fine with the pose, he looks a little more evil than relaxed, which is fine by me.

The Cult is an 'evil' faction not a 'relaxed' faction.

I'm also not bothered by the pipe as a model with a pipe as thin as in the artwork is sure to snap off, this is a bit sturdier.

i'm also wondering what happened to the two little doggies I saw on Master Po's artwork on deviantart and which were also featured on the silhouette poll a few months ago.

Really like Shichiro and I know there is always some sort of deviation between concept art and sculpted miniature. Having said that however the size of the pipe being put to his lips does look rather odd (due to size)

I dont think there would be as much issue with the size if he was more holding it in his hand away from his face.

But hey Iam a Bushido lead whore and it will be bought regardless smiley

I was fantastic! And it was a bloody good laugh!

Yeah, it's damned nice figure, and increases my urge to get the Cult as my third faction.

But I'll probably modify the pipe.

Can't wait to see the others!

Found some different angle pictures of Shichiro on cool mini or not. He has a dagger in these.

The other angles do make the model look better.

But one thing that's generally the case, anyway, is a model is going to look better, almost no matter what, in your hand than it will in a photograph.

the pipe is obviously going to be crazy thin once the mini is down to actual mini size, so I'm thinking it won't offend me as much as it does on a massive picture scale, (I just zoomed my screen out to about right and it looks ok) and everything else about him looks great, so in all I think I approve, the new shots vs old is intriguing, is the knife hand optional? can he throw it? (that would be cool)

<edit- the knife, not the hand, that would be gross>

Knife is on the model and it can be thrown three times in game.

You know, I like the Master Po artwork just fine, and I'm sure the model will be great, but you /know/ I'm going to need to find a substitute that is more akin to my avatar.

I like Po! He's very cute and huggable!

Not quite as goofy as the drawing, which is good. No butterflies, though sad

Commented on FB about this mini, but will comment here as well. I thought the concept artwork was done too comical and in a cartoony style that did not fit with previous artwork. I am suitably pleased that this miniature whilst sculpted in the stance indicated in the artwork does not portray any cartoonish tendencies and actually I think it portrays a serene master monk. The paint job on the miniature is excellent as well.

I also commented on Facebook but will also talk further here!

Master Po is definitely the contender for my favourite Wave 7 miniature, I'm glad I recently started a Ro-Kan force now! Shame he doesn't have the doggies though.

I wonder who we'll see next, the hornblower or the Nian?

Also known as Astraeos on Warseer!

I am firmly in the "love po" camp for the mini. Looking forward to the stats - The Nian is sure to be my first Wave purchase after seeing the greens a while ago on Facebook!

I seem to remember a diorama on cool mini... or possibly massive voodoo. A sniper with a butterfly on the barrel of its gun. For some reason I thought the butterfly was added not original, but I might be wrong...

Time for some google searching!!

Busch, hmmm. Though rather expensive for two butterflies. Some of the other animals in the pack look very nice as well.

70p per animal to very add something to some Temple bases. Although might be frustrating if it fell off in your case as i reckon it'd be hard to find.

Awesome! Though I am hoping the hat is a separate piece. It looks like it is. I might leave it off, or put a teeny-tiny piece of sticky tac on the inside so he can wear it every now and again.

It looks like he's on a 30. There's not /that/ much space around him on the base. Even if he were a larger-individual, the one-foot on the ground is the giveaway, I think. For a 40mm base, there'd be a /lot/ more room between his toes and the base edge.

Also if that was a 40mm he would be a BIG chunk of lead, all balanced on a single ankle point- very top heavy. My guess would be 30mm.

very good realisation of the concept art, was never going to be  a 'Wow!!' model, but is a nice sculpt that really adds to the feel of the prefecture:)

Agree with Greeny. This wasn't going to be a Mizuchi or Ekusa or Bobata-level "Woooow!"-level model, but what did come out is still pretty damn cool. Adding more to the Ashigaru line will always be welcomed for my Prefecture.

And I also agree with Duck21: I'd like release dates and prices (as well as Wave 6 cards online for me to see. :p)

Finally pictures of Nian.  I’m glad to see he still has legs.  You couldn’t tell from stock photo.
It’s 2nd of august already, could we have the release date and prices pretty please with cherry on top.
Ps. How are the Ito coming along?

I wonder about the Nians Ki stat of 2/0 a bit. Its ok if a model does not use Ki, but why confuse players with a positive stat?

Ah yes, forgot that. Mostly because similar models like the gorilla (and the Nian could be a shaved one-eye gorilla) got a Ki of 0 too but a special rule to cover Ki checks. Same as Oni.

where did you see the stats?

On the card. At my local metal dealer.
