Xbox life...

So, do any of you own one of the white (or black if you're really posh!) life magnets? Whaddya play?  I'm a big BIG fan of the Pinball FX 2 series- always been a pinball head so this was a no brain purchase for me when it turned up on XBLA.  Out of the 20 tables (!) so far there are very few clunkers and none that I would out right refuse to play.

Apart from losing hours to the silver ball I am also a massive fan of the Battlefield series Battlefield 1943 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 being nigh on perect shooters as far as I'm concerned.  Tried Modern Warfare 1 & 2 but couldn't get into the run-n-gun mentality and small (non destructable) arenas- really looking forward to Battlefield 3 at end of October!

Got/played a few others but these ones stand out for me in particular.  So whaddya play?

(apologies to PS 3 owners, I don't own one so a not really in a position to discuss them at any great length...)

Got both xbox and PS3 (big balls too :)

Modern warfare purely because Master T is rubbish, enjoy beating him on fight night too.

Also loved the fact that when I first played multi player it felt like people were cheating, step round a corner and bang, DEAD. Then with a bit of practice you'd get the odd kill that you realised the opponent was probably thinking the same as you a week ago... leading onto running round killing everyone, first 10 kills in a row and so on.

I shall not rise to your baiting.

I can be found playing cod modern warfare 2 on occasion. Under the tag xt83x. Wished there was a good multiplay roleplaying game for the xbox that allowed people to create and run adventures. Hmmm bushido online?

It did only years later with a differnt story and gameplay and they called it Dragon Age.  smiley

NwN was cool though.

Thinking of picking up the old 'Theif' series PC games, any good?

Perhaps not directly, no, but I felt like DA was NwN evolved when I was playing it.  Agree to differ?

Personally I'm saving up for the new Deus Ex, Elder Scrolls and Mass Effect games.

Well, perhaps not the same, but I sure had a great time playing DA - and the sequel.

Some days it's just not worth chewing through the restraints.

This wednesday sees Ms. 'Splosion Man coming out on XBLA.  Played (and quite enjoyed) the last one but never stumped up the spacebucks to buy it.  This one looks to up the ante considerably.  Iwill definitely be getting the demo come Wednesday for a play around on.  Online co-op mode too.  Colour me intrigued

Also saw Portal 2 for £25 in ASDA the other day (apologies those over the pond this is a bit anglo-centric)  Anyone played it?  Got and finished Portal a while ago and loved it, but wonder whether the game is worth (almost) full price as a standalone?

Warning: May become grumpy when drunk

My 'box is red (resident evil 5 limited edition :D ).

I'm a big halo fan, and I'm also loving the fallout games at the moment. I'm not so big on COD. Unfortunately I don't have access to live at the moment.
Portal 2 is a great game, especially the co-op campaign. Definately better than the first one, although its still not really all that long, so you may want to wait for it to come down in price if that is a concern to you.

Hey Tony,

At the risk of preaching to the quoir here, you should check out the old original pc versions of fallout. If you can accept the clunky interface and awful graphics then the games play like an immersive story. The new ones haven't quite captured the story aspect as well as in the past (although still do it better than almost anything else on the market, we'll see what deus brings!).

Oh I love the original 2 Fallout games, they are some of my all time favorites from the 90s. :D
Tactics is fun enough, but lacks the same immersive world that the originals had, and the brotherhood of steel game for ps2 was probably the worst game I've ever paid $10 for out of an ex rental bargain bin.
I liked the graphic style of the originals though, especially when you get critical hits with burst weapons. :)

Hey Tony,

I was always for skilling in rifles and then shooting everyone in the eye with a sniper rifle!!

Also yep agree with that summary.

I can still remember getting my first suit of power armour :-)

The turbo plasma rifle was my favourite. With high agility and action boy perks you could get 3-4 shots off a turn with that thing.

Back on topic, is anyone else looking forward to Halo Anniversary coming out? November 15 I can't wait! I'd looked at tracking down the original but with the compatibility issues and glitches I never bothered. I have great memories of crashing warthogs head on in the beach assault mission, vehicles that didn't take damage with crazy physics were a lot of fun. :p

Looking forward to Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim.  Thinking about whether I need Arkham City also...

I'd happily pay 80 MSP for an indy game of 'Shido.  Could be a dual stick game where you play as Zuba beating on a seemingly endless horde of enemies.  Even upgrade the big hammer weapon to the bell 'n' chain after x kills.  Watch out for the Oni rage though, kill lots to unleash the demon for a limited super melee boost but then you'll need time to recover.

Level 1 can be temple, level 2 up against the protectorate (watch out for them guns). Level 3 up against the Cult with their seemingly undefeatable undead minions.  Kill em all and you get to go home and beat on sqillions of Bakemono and rival Oni bosses.
