35 rice

As Jwardiff approaches i find myself writing my lists, 55 rice i am happy with kato, ichiryo, ashigaru, 1 kairai, gengo, araka, nezumi and a couple of rats, but I am tempted to go straight starter set at 35, has anyone had any particular success with variations on 35 rice?

There a 35 point list which i tried and found quite successful. Actually it's kind of a beast since its much, much faster than the starter and thus you will no more find the enemy camped by the buda heads as you get there on turn 2.

Using just the kairai ashigaru (always 3 ki on him) tagged with gengo to make him run, Ikiryo, the Orphan and Nezumi changes completely the classic Cult list. Some may love it, some may hate it. Instead of advancing slowly with a wall of kairais protecting Kato, you will find Nezumi jumping over almost anything and Wrath going wherever he pleases.

Moreover, you will generate more ki, from 6 ki (up to 7 with Kato's ability) to 8 ki (up to 10 with gengo's ability). Having just a lonely Kairai it's easier to make him activate the Hunting Vision (fear 6) almost every turn.

Just try it out and tell me if it works for you, or if there's something you would change.

I always play at 35 points, which I think is perfect. If you go up from 40 points in a normal game, I find the map is too crowded and the turns take too much time to resolve. Of course, at 35 you can't take almost everything and you are forced to choose just a few units, but I think there's part of the fun in this game, trying out new (and sometimes absurd) combinations. That's why I wouldn't like it much if CGT released a mini over 15 rice. It would be too fat for 35 point games.

thanks, that looks interesting, may give it a try at some point:) I've had very little success with orphan at 35, there just not enough models to hide her behind and fast armies (Ro-Kan usually) tend to ignore Wrath and punch her girly face in by the end of the second turn:( at 50/55 she is very useful though, so maybe I'm just not using her right:)

Never tell me the odds: Han Solo;)

35 rice its perfect. For me maximun of 40 rice thanks.

If you have trouble protecting orphan, just engage the enemy before he can reach her. Its better sacrificing a Wrath against Kenko attacking you and tiring the Monk (and maybe you have luck with the fear and some damage).

Remember that a Wrath enters in play with his 2 activations, so you can sometimes have more activation advantage than your enemy. The Ki management and the activation management is the Key in bushido in almost 99% of the games.

PD: Focus with Ikiryo in Turn 1, so you can Kill in one hit a Monk in turn 2. You will force your opponent to walk looking to his deployment zone to avoid Ikiryo's-Death-Gaze, and then you can use it to your advantage attacking from behind. This way Kenko cant use Ki Feats, and he is a easy target for Wrath.

Tell us about your future games. Luck and have fun!

Sorry my poor english >_< Bushido FTW !!
